Don't be such a Cassandra!

Cassandra is a heroine in Greek mythology. The god Appollo granted her the power to fortell the future - but he had an ulterior motive, to win her affection. When Cassandra rejecte him, Apollo caused the gift that he gave Cassandra to be twisted, making everyone who heard her true and accurate foretellings of future events believe that they were instead hearing lies. So she became known as the Greek goddess of utterance and worrying. This is where the saying "Don't be such a Cassandra!" comes from.

But why have I told you this?

There is a Woody Allen movie where Casandra is personanified. Woody plays a professor familiar with Greek tragedies. Various robed actors voice the thoughts in his head. At one point he blurts our, don’t be such a Cassandra, to which she indignantly replies but I am Cassandra! I’m THE Cassandra! LOL
